Professional background

I’m 36, a mother of two, married to a chimney sweeper, and a lifelong lover of art and design. After earning my Bachelor’s degree in Visual Communication at the Academy of Fine Arts in Maastricht in 2012, I worked as an Art Director in a branding agency, focusing on conceptual design and storytelling. In 2024, I discovered my true passion: children’s book illustration. My first book, “Mein Knopf, ein Universum” by Carmen Kroll, was published in March, followed by “Das kleine Häwas” in September. In 2025, I became a full-time freelance illustrator, combining my love for creating emotional visuals with crafting stories that inspire children and families.

My Passion

As a kid, I dreamed of being an artist like my dad. My children continue to be my greatest inspiration. I love seeing their joy as they explore the emotions and details in my illustrations. Most of my work is created digitally, blending traditional art vibes with modern tools. I focus on vibrant colors, tiny hidden details, and characters that come alive on the page, sparking curiosity and delight. Through my illustrations, I aim to bring stories to life, evoke emotions, and create little worlds of magic and happiness. My goal is to craft art that not only inspires children but also brings a smile to those who read alongside them. Thanks for being part of this creative journey!
