Sample Illustration for the Children’s Book by Carmen Kroll | 2023

When I applied for the children’s book ‚Mein Knopf, ein Universum‘ for Carmen Kroll (aka Carmushka) and made it to the shortlist, I was tasked with creating sample illustrations for the two main characters, Tilli and her cuddly companion, the otter. Here is what I ultimately submitted, and surprisingly, it secured me the commission. While the characters underwent some adjustments throughout the book process, everything was rooted in my initial ideas. Remarkably, with a few minor tweaks, some of the illustrations even made their way into the final book.
